Measures of maximal entropy

We extend the results of Walters on the uniqueness of invariant measures with maximal entropy on compact groups to an arbitrary locally compact group. We show that the maximal entropy is attained at the left Haar measure and the measure of maximal entropy is unique.

Two measures on Cantor sets

We give an example of Cantor-type set for which its equilibrium measure and the corresponding Hausdorff measure are mutually absolutely continuous. Also we show that these two measures are regular in the Stahl–Totik sense. c ⃝ 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. MSC: 30C85; 31A15; 28A78; 28A80

Good Measures on Cantor Space

While there is, up to homeomorphism, only one Cantor space, i.e. one zero-dimensional, perfect, compact, nonempty metric space, there are many measures on Cantor space which are not topologically equivalent. The clopen values set for a full, nonatomic measure μ is the countable dense subset {μ(U) : U is clopen} of the unit interval. It is a topological invariant for the measure. For the class o...

Convolutions of Cantor Measures without Resonance

Denote by μa the distribution of the random sum (1 − a) ∑∞ j=0 ωja j , where P(ωj = 0) = P(ωj = 1) = 1/2 and all the choices are independent. For 0 < a < 1/2, the measure μa is supported on Ca, the central Cantor set obtained by starting with the closed united interval, removing an open central interval of length (1 − 2a), and iterating this process inductively on each of the remaining interval...

On Homeomorphic Product Measures on the Cantor Set

Let μ(r) be the Bernoulli measure on the Cantor space given as the infinite product of two-point measures with weights r and 1 − r. It is a long-standing open problem to characterize those r and s such that μ(r) and μ(s) are topologically equivalent (i.e., there is a homeomorphism from the Cantor space to itself sending μ(r) to μ(s)). The (possibly) weaker property of μ(r) and μ(s) being contin...
